Hypothyroidism And Your State Of Mind
When the thyroid gland is under active, you have Hypothyroidism. Being underactive means that your thyroid fails to produce sufficient amounts of hormones. These thyroid hormones regulate and maintain the correct metabolic rate for your body to function properly.
But when the level of your thyroid hormones drops off the range chart as a result of hypothyroidism, your metabolism slows down and you feel the results in any one or more of a long list of possible ways. While there are many different parts of the body that respond to this metabolic drop, one of the most common and most pronounced symptoms is that of mental depression.
An underactive thyroid produces a sluggish mind and when the reasoning and thinking capacity of your mind is interfered with the most immediate response is depression. Fear of loosing control, of not really being in your normal familiar reality can cause deep mood swings and if thee is no known external reason for the mood swings except the hormonal imbalance then you have no way to grasp the feelings and try to control them.
Your underactive thyroid has started a downward spiral that can cause complications and encourage treatments that in no way will ever treat the real problem. That being the one problem that is buried in a small chemical process that has faltered between your pituitary and thyroid glands.
